Some of the first learners to use the players also found that they were a great way to make exercise easier. You get so involved in the story that you want to keep exercising! You can do any number of things while you listen.
The MP3 players can be borrowed from the Alameda Reads program by calling or e-mailing Jordona or Pat. If a tutor and learner want to pair up and have the audio players at the same time, you are welcome to do that too. We can arrange one-on-one training (the players take about 5 minutes to learn to use) for you too.
some of the new titles are:
Today Matters by John Maxwell
12 Daily practices to Guarantee Tomorrow’s Success
R is for Ricochet by Sue Grafton (A California mystery writer)
This I Believe by Jay Allison
The Personal Philosophies of Remarkable Women and Men
(Based on an NPR series that includes short essays by Isabel Allende, Colin Powell, Helen Keller and Jackie Robinson)
The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards
We urge you to call and take advantage of this great way to improve your reading and writing skills. Please tell your students about this great opportunity to continue learning during the busy holiday season.
Many thanks,
Jordona
