Alameda Reads

Alameda Reads is another service of the Alameda Free Library. It began in January 1985. It was established to meet a community need—helping the estimated 5,000 adults in Alameda with low reading and writing skills to become more literate. Since 1990, the Literacy Program has been funded primarily through the City of Alameda Free Library. Money is also received from state and local grants, and donations.
